On July 10, 2014 the City of Fort Collins Recreation Department completed the Senior Center’s $6.8 million, 18,000 square-foot expansion. The popular center features an expanded weight/cardio room, fitness room, health and wellness wing, auditorium, and additional community rooms. To achieve LEED Gold Certification the expansion project also included numerous sustainable items. Some key sustainability items included in the expansion are:

• Low emission vehicle parking
• Carpool and vanpool parking
• Light pollution reduction
• Low flow fixtures to reduce water usage
• Energy saving lighting controls
• Electric charging stations
