Slocum Center for Orthopedics and Sports Medicine

  •        The physicians of Orthopedic Healthcare Northwest desired a high profile, high image, identifiable, “landmark” building. The designers used sculptural elements of massing, materials , light and shadow to deliver a four-story, 82,000 SF Orthopedic Center of Excellence, including 56 exam rooms, four operating rooms, 16 therapy treatment rooms, and two multi-purpose rooms.

The architecture, feel and patient care were designed to convey motion and activity, while also promoting responsible environmental stewardship. The distinct look of the exterior shapes, curves and noticeable fin on the roof of the building all contribute to the organization’s _Live in Motion _brand.

The Slocum Center was honored as the first ever orthopedic center in the nation to receive LEED Gold certification from the US Green Building Council.

Since its opening in 2008, The Slocum Center has received the following awards and recognitions:

  • First ever Eugene Business Award for Sustainability from Mayor Kitty Pierce

  • Emerald Award for Environmental Values from the Eugene Chamber of Commerce

  • People’s Choice Award for Landscape Architecture at Eugene Celebration

  • 2010 BetterBricks Award for Best MultiDisciplinary Team
