Gateway Community Health Center was needed to meet the challenge of providing quality, cost-effective medical care in a low-income, medically underserved area on the Texas-Mexico border. The clinic had outgrown its old facility that consisted of 27,000 SF and only 22 points of care.
Designers worked with physicians, staff, patients and community to create a world class facility solution. The new facility more than doubled the healthcare capabilities of the region, expanding to 78 points of care to service more than 20,000 patients. Services include pharmacy, x-rays, maxillofacial, laboratory tests, prenatal care, primary mental health care and many preventative health services.
