Neenan named AIA North firm of the year

DENVER – The American Institute of Architects, Colorado North chapter, recognized its 2011 architectural design and honor award recipients on Sept. 9 during a presentation at the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art. Four awards were bestowed upon architects or projects from the Northern Colorado region. The Neenan Co. of Fort Collins was recognized as Firm of the Year, an award honoring a company that has been involved with architectural leadership for at least 10 years. RB+B Architects Inc., also of Fort Collins, was honored with a Merit Award for Commercial Architects for its work on Summit Elementary School in Casper, Wyo., in association with architecture firms from New York and Wyoming. George Brelig of RB+B was presented with an award for community service by an architect for exemplary contribution of service to the community. Receiving the 25-Year Award was the James A. Michener Library at the University of Northern Colorado. This award is given to a project completed in the area 25 to 35 years ago that has withstood the test of time and still functions in its original capacity. The Colorado North Chapter of the AIA is composed of members of the AIA from nine counties in northeastern Colorado including Boulder, Larimer, Weld, Morgan, Logan, Washington, Yuma, Phillips, and Sedgwick.
