FORT COLLINS – The Mitchell Block, 262 E. Mountain Ave. in Old Town Fort Collins, has been awarded Gold certification in Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design by the United States Green Building Council.
The Mitchell Block was completed in 2009 by the Fort Collins-based Neenan Co. and includes 33,385-square-foot of space in four stories. It is owned by Bohemian Cos.
In order to achieve LEED Gold, the Mitchell Block incorporated water reduction strategies, energy efficient equipment and lighting and enhanced indoor air quality. Ninety-four percent of all construction debris was diverted from landfills during the building process. In addition, the building features a 23.8 kilowatts peak solar array on the roof.
“We are very proud of the Mitchell Block and its LEED Gold certification,” said Scott Ranweiler, property manager for Bohemian Properties and a LEED Accredited Professional. “This accomplishment demonstrates the level of commitment Bohemian Cos. has to environmental stewardship and conservation.”
